The Black Madonna's debut album is about liberation and the heart of Chicago house
The first single will drop early 2018
The Black Madonna has given new details on her highly-anticipated debut album in a New York Times interview this week.
Stamper, who Mixmag named DJ Of The Year in 2016, described the upcoming LP as a representation of the varying values she sees between dance music's core: "One is a kind of utopianism like 'Promised Land' by Joe Smooth, and on the other hand there's the realism you would hear in a record like 'It's a Cold World'.
The Black Madonna, who's made a name for herself as an outspoken icon of LGBT and women rights, politics and equality, showcases her passions in diversity and extending open arms with an intelligent roster of collaborators.
Chicago house pioneer Jamie Principle, Shaun J. Wright of Hercules and Love Affair and soulful hip hop group Jyroscope all appear on Marea's upcoming work, keeping strong to her deep Chi-town roots.
The first single from the debut album is set to drop in early 2018 featuring Principle.
