The Belleville Three reveal plans to play live shows around the world
Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May will DJ at Movement Festival this month
Detroit techno icons Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May are now officially performing as The Belleville Three.
The three producers' nickname originates from them attending Belleville High School, but they're now using the moniker to play a series of shows together, including Movement Festival in their hometown.
In an interview with Billboard, Saunderson says the trio will not be playing a full live show just yet, but they hope to do so in the future.
"Right now it's a DJ tour, some electronic drum machines involved but nothing major. Our goal is to evolve to a complete live show and not just do festivals but do theaters around the world where people get to experience us playing our music live, with the whole visuals and impact of our vision of how we want to be seen or portrayed."
Citing "it's just the right time" for the pioneers to finally tour together, Saunderson says to expect new tracks and each of their respective classics in the upcoming shows.
On playing Movement Festival this month, he added: "I think we may have a little more anxiety than we probably would at any other gig 'cause it's home.
"It's our second show, so it' not like we've done it so many times. We're still learning each other and how to play with each other. At the same time you have magical moments within it that we look forward to between us and between us and the crowd."
