Students have launched a programme to give out free drug testing kits
MDMA will be tested at the University of California
Students at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) are being given the chance to test MDMA.
A confidential drug safety initiative is being spearheaded by Off-Campus Senator Patrick Dohoney to "reduce the amount of drug-related emergencies." This will be done by giving out free testing kits in association with UCSB’s chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy.
30 kits will be available to be loaned out, with students asked to email ivtestkits@gmail.com to arrange a pick-up time and location. They'll have to exchange their access card as a deposit.
Dohoney said: “When people intend to take molly, it is often cut with other drugs, like amphetamines or bath salts. We wanted to make sure that if students decided to use drugs, the could do it in the safest, most responsible way possible.
"It is very naive to deny the fact that there are students on this campus that are doing hard drugs.”
This follows news that a group of UK festivals will offer a drug-testing service this year in association with The Loop.
