Stormzy's new freestyle is #18 in the UK top 40
The south London MC has made history with 'WickedSkengMan 4'
Yesterday, Stormzy's 'WickedSkengMan 4' freestyle entered at #18 in the UK top 40, which is the highest chart entry ever for a freestyle.
Before this, the highest charting freestyle was '96 Fuckries' by JME, which charted at #40.
On the achievement, Stormzy said:
"Thank you to every single one of my supporters this week. They are the real winners; because with no label, and no radio play, there's no way in hell I could of done this. It sounds very cliche; but from the heart…thank you. They're like family to me. We've got a grime freestyle into the UK top 20, history for us all."
The artist recently won a BET Award and a MOBO, and is now set to go on a sold out UK tour next month that includes dates in Manchester, Birmingham and London.
