Stormzy, Diplo, Seth Troxler and more speak out on the current state of US violence
Taking a stance against violence and racism
Recent extreme instances of violence and resulting tragedies have shaken the US to its core.
Between the murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile and other unwarranted deaths throughout the country that have been linked to racism and hatred, it has become abundantly clear that starting a real conversation and taking action is the first step to making a tangible difference.
Diplo, Skrillex, AlunaGeorge, The Martinez Brothers and Seth Troxler are just a few of artists using their voices and presence on social media to voice their feelings and opinions on the current matter. Tommie Sunshine live tweeted from a New York City protest and Stormzy penned a powerful note via Facebook proclaiming he can no longer be a bystander:
"This isn't me speaking out because it looks politically correct or because it's the right thing to do coz I proper couldn't give a flying f*ck tbh. [sic] this is coming from Michael a black man who has had enough of racist dickheads thinking they can wake up and kill my people."
In the wake of such a catastrophe, we can only hope that artists and public figures taking a stance will inspire their larger audience to consider these hugely important issues.
