STEYA announces debut EP, 'Dopamine'

In doing so, she becomes just the ninth artist to release a full body of work on Marcel Fengler's IMF label

STEYA has announced her debut EP, 'Dopamine', set for release on July 12 via Marcel Fengler's influential IMF label.

The product of two years of dedicated studio time - and 20 years devoted to techno - 'Dopamine' meanders through five high-energy tracks. Its eponymous opener operates as a gritty tribal number with tempo shifts throughout, whilst 'Fast Life' leads firmly with its bassline, with a punch synth melody creating interesting movement. On the B-side, 'Things You Never Said' is centred around rolling grooves and warm synths.

Away from her original tracks, STEYA welcomes two remixers on the A and B-side respectively, continuing IMF's philosophy of pairing a 'new gen' artist with genre heavyweights. Swedish producer Hertz, a favourite of the Belgian artist's, reworks the title track to up its energy further whilst Rolando remixes 'Things You Never Said' crafting a deep, simmering techno soundscape.

“It’s a big honour to release my debut EP on such an amazing label like IMF, which is very close to my heart," STEYA explains. "I poured my heart and soul into this project. It showcases the artistic direction I’ve developed over the last few years and is an important milestone in my artist journey."

"After experiencing many of her stunning DJ sets, it's wonderful to see STEYA thriving also as a producer," adds labelhead Marcel Fengler. "What really excites me is witnessing her continuous growth, always fuelled by her deep passion for music. So, I’m thrilled to release STEYA's debut EP on IMF, featuring three original dancefloor anthems and two stellar remixes by Rolando and Hertz.”
