Star Wars Cantina Club opens in London

Go to the new Secret Nightclub

A Star Wars themed pop-up nightclub launched in London last night.

Based on the Cantina from Star Wars IV: A New Hope, an empty theatre space has been transformed into a kind of cabaret show meets interactive clubbing experience.

The club is an off-shoot of Secret Cinema, the company that creates immersive cinema experiences by building sets from classic and cult movies.

At last night's launch two storm troopers and a hooded jawa patrolled outside the back alley entrance to the club that opened its doors at 8.30pm.

Once inside, all communication devices (your phones) were sealed in silver bags before you were led into the three tiered main room that holds about 400 revellers.

A steam-punk bar served Bounty Hunter cocktails served in tin cans and test-tubes whilst DJs and live acts performed on the stage.

As with all Secret Cinema events the best part of the experience was interacting with the actors, playing members of the Rebel Alliance or alien life-forms that are peppered throughout the crowd. Throughout the night we were dragged into gambling games, became an in-club dealer trading exotic spices and were caught in the middle of an alien bar brawl.

If you want to join the Rebel Alliance, the Secret Nightclub is only accessible to those who have attended Secret Cinema's Empire Strikes Back event elsewhere in the capital. Running from June 4 til Sep 27, tickets for the full Secret Cinema show and Secret Nightclub are £78 here. May the farce be with you.
