It is happening, again
Whether you're a die-hard fan, whether you've dabbled a little bit or whether you even care remotely about it, there's absolutely no denying the cultural importance of Twin Peaks.
David Lynch and Mark Frost's cult favourite transported viewers to the eerie, mind-bending town of Twin Peaks as the FBI's finest, Agent Cooper attempted to solve the mystery surrounding the untimely death of Laura Palmer. Despite being popular in the TV ratings war back in 1990, the show was cancelled after the second season due to dwindling numbers.
Of course, fans have been outraged ever since and now, 26 years later, the show made its return for a third season today. In the time since it's been on TV, one constant has remained at the forefront of people's minds and that's the exceptional soundtrack and the relevance it's had on other musicians since.
Angelo Badalamenti's sweeping score captured the minds of millions and some of the world's biggest artists have heralded it as the biggest influence on their career. Moby's 'Go' of course samples the elegant yet haunting 'Laura Palmer's Theme' and Zomby used a sample from The Log Lady scene on 'Reflection', the first track from his second album 'Ultra'. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Although some samples are gone before you know it, here are 15 tracks that have used snippets and scenes from Twin Peaks, as well as some of the best tracks from Badalamenti's original soundtrack.
Enjoy and beware, it's happening again.
