Spotify playlist: 50 overlooked classics with strong dancefloor appeal
Don't sleep!
Back with another fresh update to Mixmag's Overlooked Classics playlist on Spotify, this time revisiting material from the legends of the underground scene who helped shape the industry.
When looking back on classic tunes by noteworthy names, what you'll find can be pleasantly surprising. Like the ridiculously energetic, techy and raw track titled 'Wet Rhythm' by the Circoloco regular Davide Squillace. It was released on his 'Mounths Mood' EP via the now defunct German minimal techno label Fine Audio Recordings in 1999. Today we know Squillace to deliver a different motif, but here we get a taste of his early influences and it's interesting to see how his career has progressed.
Other highlights from the new batch of tunes include a track off the debut self-titled album from Lawrence, which was released in 2002 and showcases a smooth and hypnotic minimal house style. Staying along the lines of stripped back grooves, you'll find early productions from the likes of Efdemin, Melchoir Productions, Loco Dice and more.
Follow the playlist on Spotify to stay connected and be sure to check back for weekly updates occurring every Thursday.
