Spotify playlist: 50 overlooked classics to bring back to the dancefloor
Mr. G, Terry Francis, Felix Da Housecat and more
Back once again with more dancefloor cuts added to Mixmag’s Overlooked Classics playlist on Spotify, this time featuring a jacking and hard-hitting motif.
Kicking off the update is Janet Rushmore’s 1994 ballad ‘Joy’, an all-time classic for the house heads. Produced by New Jersey native Eddie Perez, the prolific artist who emerged in the 90s house scene and later worked with Pitbull, A$AP Rocky and Justin Bieber, the track features the distinct vocal house motif that ruled over clubland at the time. Here, Mixmag would have added one of the stellar remixes by Kerri Chandler or Smack, but alas they are not offered on Spotify. Nevertheless, this original version is a gem not to be overlooked.
Also included in the new update is a cosmic excursion by Mr. G, a trippy bass-heavy belter by Felix Da Housecat, the debut release by M.A.N.D.Y. and rave jams by Terry Francis and Chus & Ceballos. Plus more stripped-back classics from Gregor Tresher, Mathew Jonson, Marc Houle and The Rurals.
This collection joins other timeless tracks previously added, including material by Glenn Underground, Paul Woolford, Dennis Ferrer, Anja Schneider, Cab Drivers and Fred Everything, among others.
Follow the playlist on Spotify to stay connected and be sure to check back for weekly updates occurring every Thursday.
