Spotify launches In Residence radio
Big Narstie and Mike Skinner are among the debut hosts
Spotify has expanded its service with the introduction of original radio programming feature In Residence.
Rather than live broadcasts, the shows take the form of a playlist containing music tracks and spoken word segments from the hosting artists and guest curators.
Shows available so far come from extrovert grime star Big Narstie, modern soul duo Jungle, Mike Skinner and Murkage collaboration Tonga, and former Sex Pistol Steve Jones. The playlist titles appears to suggest these will be updated monthly.
In Residence is likely a response to combat the rising power of Apple Music and its success with Beats 1 radio following the announcement of Spotify's net losses trebling this summer.
You can listen to the first In Residence shows in Spotify now and watch out for more special guests, including Mixmag, soon.
