Space Ibiza to become a club that caters for the Ushuaïa audience from 2017

There's been plenty of rumours since Carl Cox revealed that the owners of Ushuaïa would be taking over Space Ibiza next year, but there's now information of what will be happening with the club.

Abel Matutes Prats, the CEO of Palladium Hotel Group (which runs Ushuaïa), has dismissed the belief that the venue is to be turned into a shopping centre, confirming it will remain as a nightclub.

Speaking to *Diario de Ibiza**,* he said: “Obviously we want to keep it as a disco, but also want to dedicate it to the audience in which we are now focusing, which will be complementary to Ushuaïa.”

Any thoughts of it be turned into a hotel similar to Ushuaïa were also brushed away, with Prats citing the 'class 41' license that prevents the space being used as anything other than "leisure and recreation."

Despite revealing more details than we've heard before, he was still quite coy about the future of Space as we know it, saying "we'll see." The new venue, which we expect will be more VIP-friendly - is hoped to open in the summer of 2017.
