SoundCloud Go is now available to UK users

No ads for £9.99 a month

SoundCloud Go has now arrived for users in the UK and Ireland.

The ad-free tier of the streaming service was unveiled in the United States last month, but now those in the British Isles can sign up for £9.99 a month.

As the Berlin company prepares to go up against the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, users will have access to around 125 million tracks, as well as mixes and podcasts, with the option to make them available for offline listening.

The launch, which comes after licensing deals were penned with Sony, Warner Music and Universal, has been well received, with co-founder and CTO Eric Wahlforss saying feedback has been "extremely positive".

Those who won't be signing up to the paid subscription can expect in-stream ads, of which are said to be related to artists. This means creators will gain revenue from this, as well as royalties for their music.

According to TechCrunch, the company said: “The introduction of advertising will ensure listeners can continue to experience SoundCloud for free, as well as offer creators the opportunity to be paid for the work that they share.
