Snapped: Love Saves The Day

With a line-up including a Berghain resident, some of Amsterdam's finest DJs and Ibiza regulars on the first day of Love Saves The Day, we didn't expect a fluffy remix of Justin Bieber's 'Sorry' to be the first tune we heard upon arriving to Eastville Park. But that wasn't the only unexpected thing to happen on the north side of Bristol last Saturday.

First of all, most spent the majority of the day poised to pull on our waterproof jackets after weather warnings had promised thunderstorms and heavy showers. No need, though. The beaming sun held out all day long and the jackets stayed slung round shoulders. Then there was the encounter with an inflatable church, complete with DJs playing house jams and nuns, a pairing not so synonymous in every day life. Just as well LSTD isn't your average day, then.

Once the Bieber fuss had calmed down at the Arcadia Afterburner stage, a sort of medieval tower armed with flames like its Glastonbury counterpart, it was on to the Just Jack tent where Joy Orbison was playing hard to get by keeping everyone waiting past his planned start time. Well worth the wait, the 'Hyph Mngo' producer smashed out a blinding set to appease the crowd. After that, Just Jack was treated to acid duo Paranoid London, Roman Flügel and techno assassin Ben Klock.

Elsewhere, Bristol's own Futureboogie had taken over the Brouhaha arena for a dope serving of house, disco and anything else drenched in joy. Rush Hour Music co-founder Antal was serving up funky Canadian disco cuts like Jeancy's 'Reservation', with Young Marco squashed between him and soul-serving headliner Motor City Drum Ensemble, who drew the curtains with the most delicious of track selection.

Who said you need superheroes to save the day?
