Skepta to perform at the Brit Awards later this month

Get ready for the 'Shutdown' on February 22

Skepta will be performing at the 2017 Brit Awards.

The official BRITs Twitter account announced it last night, revealing Bruno Mars as another addition to the performers on February 22.

Skepta, whose 2016 album 'Konnichiwa' reached gold status and won the Mercury Prize, is up for three awards, nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist, Best British Male and Album of the Year.

BRITs chairman Jason Iley said: "Skepta is a homegrown talent who’s had an incredible year including three nominations and I can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to the event."

Last year's BRITs came under fire because of a lack of diversity in the nominations, with Lily Allen and Big Narstie sharing their opinions.

Other artists up for BRITs include Kano, Stormzy, Calvin Harris, David Bowie, Anohni, Radiohead, Christine and the Queens and A Tribe Called Quest.
