Selects: Nastia

The Ukrainian delves deep

Every week, Mixmag invites the world's most revered artists to bring us an Apple Music playlist, hand-selected by them and curated especially for your listening pleasure. From Disclosure to Bonobo, the Selects series has seen a wealth of artists dig deep for old school gems and fresh new beats.

If her Instagram and Facebook pages are anything to go by, Ukrainian artist Nastia is one of the hardest-working DJs on the circuit. Every single week she's in a different location, rolling out her unique strand of dub-house and techno, always with a smile on her face and a spring in her step.

Over the last 10 years she's established herself as a true selector and music lover and after working as a promoter, stage manager and radio show host, she carved a name for herself as a resident at the hallowed Arma17.

Now she's a worldwide force to be reckoned with, booked all around the world at venues like Fabric, DC10, Womb and The Block, and her upcoming dates are seriously impressive as well.

She'll be playing at Kappa Futur this weekend but most excitingly she's heading to Amnesia for Papa Sven's Cocoon night. Now in its 17th season, Monday nights in Ibiza are always a heavy affair and Nastia will make her debut on August 22.

For her Selects playlist, Nastia has chosen a mix of house, techno, drum 'n' bass and even a seminal piece of classical music by Mozart. Not bound by genre or tempo, Nastia is one-of-a-kind and her curation perfectly showcases that.

Nastia will play at Cocoon on August 22 and will take her Stereo Piknik party to Studio 338 on July 23, tickets here

Gonzales 'Gentle Threat'

Today I started my day with it and it reminds me of the first weekend of October when I go to Carpathian mountains in Ukraine to stay alone with myself and for the last 4 years I used to listen to the album of Gonzales with this composition.

Myles Serge 'White Noise Safari'

He made my favourite track to play at the moment called 'Clockwerk' but it’s not on Apple Music, so I had to find out the connection :)

Calibre 'Latin Way'

Calibre's is my favourite drum and bass producer and this track is the intro of his last album.

Luke Slater 'Walking the Line'

Luke is one of the God’s of 90’s who could adapt to 2000’s yet still keep the same quality/idea level which is quite rare. I adore and play most of his Planetary Assault System’s works.

Trus’me 'Good God'

I love David and the way he produces such a different style of music. 'Good God' is a good example of his production skills and class taste in music.

Special Request 'Lockjaw' (Akkord Remix)

Tricky track. I love to play this closer towards the end of my set to make people freak out a bit and just for myself to jump in the booth ;)

Skee Mask 'Cylo'

Only break beats make my heart beat faster and this piece is even more interesting because it’s quite minimal - another love of mine.

Moodymann 'Telephone Blue' This man is phenomenon and in modern electronic music no-one can make sexier and jazzier music to play at the party than him.

Donato Dozzy & Cio D’Or 'Limone'

Dedicated to my very bad memory, because it’s been released and appeared in my collection in 2009, but one month ago when Someone (with a capital letter please) asked me if I know 'Cio D’Or' I said no.

Mozart 'Piano Concerto No. 23 in A, K. 488 ii. Adagio'

Because this music hurts me. And this is the most beautiful hurt I have ever experienced in my life.

Andy Stott 'She's Gone Wrong' (Original Mix)

My favourite track of Andy's. Dubby, experimental, a little bit noisy and at the same time pretty minimal and mysterious. The first record of his that I bought.

The Cinematic Orchestra 'All Things To All Men' (feat. Roots Manuva)

I would be very proud if I was British, because of this band. The Cinematic Orchestra are my favourite group in this genre. Thank God they got together and have done what they have until now. Brilliant talents. This track is just one example of many.

Terrence Dixon 'Trust'

Terrence is one of the most original and extremely intelligent producers making the sexiest deep techno music.

Roy Davis Jr. feat. Peven Everett 'Gabriel' (Live Garage Version)

If I am in a good mood and have just played a happy set then I will finish with this one. And now I do to ;)
