Scarlett O'Malley's Club Cowgirl is now a label

Its first release, 'Scorpio Rodeo EP', also marks O'Malley's debut release

Scarlett O'Malley's Club Cowgirl has launched as a label, with its first release housing the DJ, broadcaster and producer's debut EP.

Available now, 'Scorpio Rodeo EP' consists of two infectious house cuts.

Opener 'Pink's At The Door' is a 130bpm roller, wistfully yearning over the unplanned nights out that result in being "the best". As O'Malley herself articulates, it channels the moment "a friend shows up at the door when you’ve already resided to lying on the sofa watching reality TV and a pal pulls through with a last minute motive".

Second EP track 'An Ode to Medway Estate' is exactly that. Forming a love letter to where the artist grew up in West London, the track is gritty and percussive, the sample a reflection of "rolling about the estate as a teen and how that could throw back in a sound".

"I am so excited to finally launch my Scorpio Rodeo EP, two tracks really close to my heart that reflect exactly what I want to hear on the dancefloor," O Malley explains. "I love chunky, percussive 90s inspired rollers and house is what I get a stomp on to, so wanted to make something for the DJs and dancers alike.

I'm a very DIY kind of girl so thought I'd make Club Cowgirl a label, and I get some many great tunes sent to me, [it will] let me uplift others tunes too. Really excited to get some music out into the world and have it off this summer!"

To celebrate its label launch and first release, Club Cowgirl threw a launch party on Friday [June 16] at South London's TOLA. Founder O'Malley went b2b with LAANI, with Heléna Star also on the billing. It will also be returning to Glastonbury Festival, taking over the Meeting Place Bar on the Thursday night.
