Satoshi Tomiie in The Lab NYC

With a hybrid DJ set utilizing his modular setup

The Lab NYC is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly afterwork party where we stream the best American and international DJs from the intimate space connected to our Brooklyn office. On Thursday, May 11, Mixmag welcomes pioneering house producer Satoshi Tomiie to The Lab for a hybrid DJ set focusing on his modular gear.

Satoshi Tomiie has been a guiding force in the global house community for decades, linking with Frankie Knuckles to collaborate on the legendary track ‘Tears’ early in his career in 1989. The Japanese born, New York and Paris based DJ, producer, remixer and label boss has since had seminal releases on respected record labels like Strictly Rhythm and FFRR, and more recently has launched his Abstract Architecture that’s home to his own material. Fueled by elements of jazz and the piano, his work reflects a soulful motif paired with steady rhythms made to energize the dancefloor.

For his set in The Lab NYC, Satoshi will deliver a hybrid DJ set, utilizing a unique eurorack modular system which he’s been experimenting with at his studio in NYC. This will be one of the first performances from the producer with this gear setup and will introduce fans to the future of his output.

Mixmag's Brooklyn resident Day Cart will be supplying tunes with an opening DJ set comprised of his recent vinyl pulls.

The Lab NYC is strongly powered by Void Acoustics. Subscribe to Mixmag TV or watch Satoshi Tomiie in The Lab NYC live on Thursday, May 11 via our official Facebook Page at 8:00PM EST.
