Ruff Sqwad’s ‘White Label Classics’ to be reimagined with live orchestral show
Presented by Prince Rapid
London’s The Jazz Café will play host to a homecoming celebration of seminal grime next month, with a live instrumental show presented by Ruff Sqwad’s Prince Rapid (pictured).
Formed over a decade ago, Ruff Sqwad helped shape the sounds of Bow and beyond into the boundary-pushing, dominating force of grime today. ‘Functions on the Low’, a track from Ruff Sqwad affiliate XTC, was cited by the Guardian as being, “one of the greatest tracks in the history of British electronic music.”
Rapid, the man behind many of the group’s best loved instrumentals, including cult productions, ‘Misty Cold’, ‘Pied Piper’ and ‘Anna’, is bringing 2012’s icy ‘White Label Classics’ compilation to life with what’s set to be an unforgettable live performance featuring, “a few faces who’ve helped grow the genre along the way.”
‘Prince Rapid presents: The Ruff Sqwad Orchestra Live’ takes place on June 18 at The Jazz Café. Get your tickets here.
