Ruby Rushton to release new album 'Ironside' in April

22a label boss and quartet leader Tenderlonious announced the album this week

A new album from Tenderlonious’ Ruby Rushton quartet is landing in April.

Flautist, saxophonist, keys player, producer, DJ and 22a label founder Tenderlonious, aka Ed Cawthorne, made the announcement earlier this week.

Titled ‘Ironside’, the new album from the dynamic jazz four-piece was recorded at Abbey Road’s Studio 3 over the course of two days.

“This record is more disciplined and thought-out. ‘The Shakedown’ was a free, unplanned jam, but this has detailed arrangements with lots of changes," says Cawthorne. “The tracks are shorter too – they’re more concise, as is the whole thing, which makes it more accessible. I like the idea that people can play the album quickly, then play it all over again.”

22a will release ‘Ironside’ on April 5. Check out lead track ‘Eleven Grapes’ below.
