Ricardo Villalobos and Umho unveil debut collaborative EP

‘Melo De Melo’ celebrates half a decade of music from Drumma

Esteemed Santiago-based label Drumma is set to mark its fifth anniversary and 15th vinyl release with a two-track EP featuring hometown heroes Ricardo Villalobos and Umho.

The two Chilean artists have been close friends for over two decades, regularly playing high profile sets together as Richmo, but ‘Melo De Melo’ marks their debut collaborative release.

They combine their talents on the 14-minute opening track ‘Por Suerte’, turning in a minimal masterpiece defined by metallic-sprung percussion and syncopated rhythms, while Ricardo Villalobos then goes it alone on the title track. Each track honours the duo and label’s Chilean heritage with heavy Latin American influence.

Speaking about their blueprint for the imprint, Drumma founders Felipe Venegas and Bruno Schiavi said: “We look for innovative sound that gets you moving; we think that this is what keeps music alive.”

'Melo De Melo' is due out on December 6. Listen to clips and check out the tracklist below.
