Reusable steel pint cups to be used at Glastonbury
Michael Eavis says supporting the steel industry was key
Glastonbury has strengthened its 'Love The Farm, Leave No Trace' initiative with the introduction of 200,000 reusable steel pint cups.
Available for a £5 deposit along with the purchase of a first pint, festival-goers will be able to pick them up from 10 main bars at Worthy Farm.
It wasn't easy for the Glasto organisers to get these sorted, taking three years to finalise due to sorting issues such as weights, measures and crushability tests.
Saying it's part of the "resusable revolution", organisers also claim it was important to them to call upon the at-risk steel industry.
Founder Michael Eavis said: “I’m told the cup initiative is a bit of a revolution. But for me, the single most important thing was being able to source British stainless steel for the cups from the place where it was invented - Sheffield, and then to take it on to the home of manufacture - Birmingham."
Punters will just have to make sure they don't get too wasted and lose their cups on the first night.
