Ravers are apparently getting high on cacao

Move over ecstasy, there's a new party high on the dancefloor.

Cacao is apparently the drug of choice for some ravers in Berlin, mainly at a party called Lucid. It's thought the substance heightens the experience of listening to house music and any other electronic genre.

Lucid reportedly drops the so-called choc high into drinks at the venue, with another party, Morning Gloryville, said to stock cacao pills behind the bar. Snorting brown powder doesn't exactly sound appetising but one chocolatier has made a Chocolate Shooter for those willing to sniff it.

It's no surprise people are choosing to get choc'd up. Cacao is said to raise serotonin levels, just like MDMA, stimulates the movement of endorphins (therefore causing a pleasurable feeling) and creates a feeling of bliss through it increasing the levels of anandamide in the brain.

Let's hope it doesn't get added to the Psychoactive Substances Act, eh.
