Professor Green wants a ‘National Grief Day’
"We internalise our grief and that's a terrible thing to do.”
Professor Green is pushing for the UK government to acknowledge a 'National Grief Day'.
“We don't talk about death here,” Professor Green told Mixmag, “We pretend it's not gonna happen then it does. We internalise our grief and that's a terrible thing to do.”.
The UK rapper has created a petition under his real name, Stephen Manderson, to be put forward to the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock. At the time of writing it’s at 84,000 signatures, with a target of 150,000.
Professor Green went on to say, “Anything you internalise manifests and becomes bigger and if you don't let anything come up when it's coming up then it hits you sideways later on and that’s why people encounter problems. It doesn't just have to be a sad thing, it can also be to celebrate and to keep those people alive by way of conversation.”
