Premiere: Throwing Snow’s spellbinding Zola Blood remix
Throwing Snow channels feelings of ecstasy and intimacy
‘Tis the season for wintry, bassweight-fuelled electronica, so today we’re bringing you brand new sounds from a master of the art.
Ross Tones debuted his Throwing Snow moniker in 2007, and over the past decade has struck an affecting note in the world of electronic music with his gripping hybrids that artfully ground soaring layers with burly foundations.
His newest work is a remix of London four-piece Zola Blood (pictured), who achieve equally distinct moods with their expansive synth melodies.
Taking on ‘Islands’, a track described by singer Matt West as about “drifting off with someone, forgetting who you are or where you're supposed to be”, Throwing Snow captures this feeling of gradually, and then completely, losing yourself in the high of a shared moment. He underpins a stripped-back opening with toughened drums, before letting the track swell to dizzying, reverb-soaked heights. Listen below.
