Premiere: ‘I Will’ is the latest soulful cut from DRS

An understated gem on Soul:r

DRS has made a name for himself as one of the most articulate MCs in drum 'n' bass, rapping complex rhythms to the sounds of 170bpm with ease. Mixing honesty with hip hop sensibilities, the Manchester-native’s deep tone is as distinctive as the amen break.

After getting his start in d'n'b with LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad in the early 90s, he moved onto Marcus Intalex’s Soul:r label where he's become a regular contributor with his own work and collaborations.

New material from the MC has been sparse since 2015, with only a few collaborations with the likes of LSB to sate the appetite. So news of the northern wordsmith returning with a new EP instantly piqued our interest.

His first EP since ‘Mid Mic Crisis’, ‘I Will’ is a collaborative effort featuring Calibre, Patife and Utah Jazz among others. The title track is everything that DRS stands for: class, emotion and subtlety. Sit back, relax and let it wash over you.
