PinkPantheress receives first Mercury Prize nod in 2025 shortlist
FKA twigs, Fontaines D.C., Wolf Alice and CMAT are among the nominees for this year's Album of the Year prize
PinkPantheress' mixtape 'Fancy That' has been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize 2025, marking her first nod for the prestigious award.
Announced yesterday (September 10), the shortlist also includes FKA twigs' techno-inspired album 'Eusexua', Fontaines D.C.'s 'Romance', CMAT's 'Euro-Country' and Pulp's comeback album 'More'.

PinkPantheress is one of the youngest to be nominated for the 'Album of the Year' award. Dizzy Rascal currently holds the title for the youngest winner, scoring the prize in 2003 at just 18-years-old for 'Boy in da Corner'.
She'll be going up against the oldest ever nominee, 84-year-old folk musician Martin Carthy, who received a nod this year for his album 'Transform Me Then Into A Fish’.
This year's Mercury Prize ceremony will be the first to place outside of London, taking over Newcastle's Utilita Arena on October 16 with coverage of the event provided by BBC Music.

Alongside the ceremony, the city will also be the setting for the Mercury Prize Newcastle Fringe, a "region-wide" series of live events, workshops and roundtables aimed at showcasing the "best in North Eastern talent" from October 9 - 15. For full programming details, click here.
