Pete Tong announces DJ academy co-founded by Carl Cox

Tutors are set to include Jamie Jones, Nicole Moudaber, TSHA and more

Pete Tong has announced the launch of a brand new initiative alongside co-founder Carl Cox at this year’s IMS: the Pete Tong DJ Academy.

During Ibiza’s International Music Summit 2022 edition, the BBC R1 radio host announced his plans to create a “game-changing” platform helping aspiring DJs reach their goals.

The project is set up with Rome’s MAT Academy, curating an online academy which can be participated in from anywhere in the world.

“Pete is an incredible partner who designed every single aspect of this project with us, together with all the artists involved in this programme. It’s probably the best path to learn in detail, the fantastic art of DJing,” MAT Academy said on the new project.

The course claims to feature a line-up of tutors including Jamie Jones, TSHA, Nicole Moudaber, and co-founder of the academy, Carl Cox.

The Pete Tong DJ Academy is made up of over 90 lessons covering every aspect of a DJ career in a “comprehensive programme” with everything from technical knowledge to industry expertise.

“I’m very proud to be launching the PTDJ Academy. A new platform that gives my peers and I a chance to pass on a lifetime's worth of learning, experience and skills to the next generation,” Tong said on the project.

“Our ambition is to continue the legacy and help inspire and evolve the essence of what’s required to be a great DJ. If you want to be a DJ this is the place to start.”

The Academy also sets up aspiring DJs with “a hotbed” of contacts including Beatport and Defected, two partners of the Pete Tong DJ Academy.
