Parklife Festival to go ahead despite attack in Manchester

"We are certain we will not be defeated by such cowardice"

Parklife has released a statement on social media saying that the festival will go ahead as planned despite a terror attack in Manchester last night.

The festival is to go ahead on the weekend of June 10 to 11, after an explosion killed 22 people and injured over 50 more at an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena.

Parklife wrote on Twitter its social media activity will be silent over the next 48 hours in honour of those affected in the bombing.

Concert-goers fled Manchester Arena last night after "loud bangs" were heard, with witnesses describing scenes of people covered in blood exiting the venue.

The bomb exploded in the foyer of the venue at around 10.30pm while 21,000 people, many of them children and teenagers, were still inside.
