The SL-1200 is officially back
And better than ever
Panasonic released the last edition of the Technics 1200 (MK6) back in 2008, and since, most have been mourning these turntable favorites.
Today, at the CES convention in Las Vegas, Panasonic unveiled the newly revamped and revived Grand Class Technics SL-1200G and limited edition Grand Class SL-1200GAE.
Fans will remember teasers of the new 1200 model surfacing last year.
Generally, the classic Technics remains the same, but Panasonic has gone ahead and added a few appreciated updates. A new coreless motor has replaced the iron motor of previous models, eliminating vibrations that resulted from the old electronic motor model.
A limited 1,200 run of the 50th Anniversary edition of the Grand Class SL-1200GAE will be available this summer, and the SL-1200G will be available later in 2016.
