Nicolas Jaar transitions his label and launches an online radio network
Other People is undergoing a big change
Nicolas Jaar has announced he will be making significant changes to his label, Other People, and has launched an online radio network via the label’s website.
As many fans anticipate Jaar’s forthcoming album, ‘Sirens’, we are presented with news that he is halting the monthly subscription service from Other People, which supplied subscribers with new music every Sunday for $10 a month. Due to his busy touring schedule and the financial implications, Jaar said he “will now concentrate on a much smaller batch of yearly releases starting in 2017.”
Although we can expect Other People to become more of a traditional label, what is currently happening to it’s website is one of the most obscure things currently on internet radio. Staying true to Jaar’s experimental nature, the site is mutating into www.other-people.network.
Upon further investigation, the extensive network of radio channels still remains puzzling, but does reference past and potentially future projects. At first glance it might seem as though it's all just noise, but there are hidden gems of quality music that can be found if you dig deep enough. Multiples of three will do the trick.
As Jaar states: “I will let you guys discover what this is on your own but all I’ll say is that channels 324, 195, 108, 243, 225, 33 would be good places to start. And channel 333 will be a good place to end. Okay that’s all, see you on the road.”
