Newcastle University to offer drug-testing kits
The 'Test Your Drugs, Not Yourself' initiative aims to educate young people on drugs
Newcastle University has reportedly become the first uni to offer students the chance to test their drugs.
For a price of £3, the scheme allows students to test what adulterants are in their drugs through a chemical reaction that changes colour based on what is tested.
The program is in association with the Newcastle branch of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP).
SSDP president, Holly Robinson, said: "Statistics show that a lot of student communities do use recreational drugs. Although drug taking is illegal, people will still engage with them but the health and wellbeing of people has to come first."
The move comes a week after one teenager in Manchester died after taking a 'Mastercard' ecstasy pill and two women were left hospitalised after taking 'Lego' pills.
