New York's iconic Webster Hall will close this summer
The historic music venue has been sold and prepares for renovations
It has just been publicly announced that New York City's landmark concert venue Webster Hall will be closing this summer.
The world famous and historic destination was build in 1886 and has hosted some of the most iconic artists on its stage, including Tina Turner, Metallica and Elvis Presley.
Webster Hall, which more recently became known as a vital component of the city's growing electronic music scene through its Girls & Boys series, was also recognized as America's first LGBT club.
Director of Operations Gerard McNamee Jr. gave details in a personal Facebook post, elaborating on AEG's purchase of the venue and plans to completely renovate the space.
Webster Hall will officially close on Saturday August 5.
