The New York State Liquor Authority will not be granting any "all-night" alcohol permits for New Years Eve 2017.
The NYSLA's standard legislation allows businesses in New York City to serve alcohol until 4:00AM. In past circumstances, establishments have had the option to apply for a special permit in accordance to Section 99 of the Alcohol Beverage Control Law, enabling them to continue serving past the cut off time until 8:00AM for New Year's Eve.
The process to obtain such a permit usually requires that organizations apply 45 days in advanced and submit to the local police department, with the NYSLA's decision based on the licensee's disciplinary history. The accord would be issued within 10 days of an application filing, display of the license in plain sight at the event would be mandatory.
As of late, "all-night" permits have become significantly more difficult to secure, the New York Post reports.
This time around, all of New York City will be cutting off the flow of alcoholic drinks at the standard 4:00AM mark for New Year's Eve, a relatively early time stamp for the average NYE itinerary.
