New TV drama to chronicle the investigations into Tupac and Notorious B.I.G's murders
The series is due to pilot in November
NBCUniversal is set to screen a new TV series based on the murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.
Due to come out in November, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G will focus on the dual police investigations into the killings of the two rappers. Tupac died six days after being shot in September 1996 and Biggie was killed in a drive-by shooting in March 1997.
Greg Kading, the former LAPD detective who worked on both cases, is involved in the project as a co-executive producer and acted as a consultant for the script. Kading will be played by Josh Duhamel (Transformers), while Brent Sexton (The Killing, Deadwood), Jamie McShane (Bloodline, Sons Of Anarchy) and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) will play Detective Brian Tyndall, Det. Fred Miller and investigator Russel Poole respectively.
Marcc Rose, who played Tupac Shakur in Straight Outta Compton will once again portray the rapper, while Biggie will be played by Wavvy Jonez.
Anthony Hemingway (The Wire, American Crime Story) is directing the series and Kyle Long (The Good Guys, Suits) is credited as a writer.
Unsolved will arrive after the release of the upcoming Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me, while it was announced last week 12 Years A Slave director Steve McQueen is working on a documentary given the green light by Tupac's mother.
