New Order won’t be playing ‘Blue Monday’ at shows this summer

New Order are set to perform a series of special hometown shows during the Manchester International Festival this summer, backed by a 12-piece synth ensemble and stage design from conceptual artist Liam Gillick.
The pioneering electronic band have revealed the set list will be “90 per cent” different to their last tour, and will not feature dancefloor classic ‘Blue Monday’.
“We make a lot of effort to freshen up the songs and visuals,” said frontman Bernard Sumner in an interview with The Guardian, adding: “Creative people like to do something new. We will not be playing ‘Blue Monday’. Requests will fall on deaf ears. And these days, these ears are pretty deaf to be honest.”
