Air Texture spotlights Ireland in next compilation
The next instalment of the Air Texture compilation series is spotlighting Ireland’s electronic music scene.
Curated by Dublin-based Efa O’Neill, ‘Place: Ireland’ comprises 21 tracks, with contributions from the likes of The Outside (a duo of which O’Neill is one half), Optimist, Lighght, Olive Hatake, Belacqua, and more.
The first cut released from the compilation last week, ‘Bell Dent’ by ópax, is an emotionally rich track with ambient haze, shimmering melodies and warm sub-bass.
“Rather than defining a specific theme or genre, I invited each contributor to submit music that felt true to where they were creatively. The result is a diverse yet cohesive snapshot of the electronic soundscape across Ireland - featuring voices from beyond the capital, reaching into all corners of the country,” says O’Neill.
Proceeds from this release will support BirdWatch Ireland’s Marine Conservation efforts.

George Riley showcases the spectrum of her sound across two new singles
George Riley has shared two new singles, ‘Slow’ and ‘Unconditional’, showcasing two different sides to her sound.
‘Slow’ is ominous and brooding, with shadowy production from phil and heavy reverb to start, before emerging into more inky-yet-anthemic house territory with stirring vocals, clunky piano keys ‘n’ kicks. ‘Unconditional’, also produced by phil with a helping hand from Mura Masa, has a breezier, R&B-influnced sound while also drawing from footwork with its skittery percussive foundation.‘

Call Super to helm Dekmantel’s debut mix CD
Call Super is helming a new mix CD compilation via Dekmantel Records, marking the Dutch label’s first foray into this format.
Titled ‘A Rhythm Protects One’, the 12-track release lands on August 11, with copies set to be on sale at Dekmantel festival and online, with pre-orders now available.
The mix aims to “honour the meaning of mix CDs in a world drowning in online DJ streams”, harking back to Call Super’s own influences growing on the format.
“There is a line in the Malgo & KVS track [which features on the mix] that goes, ‘I must be the place where the storm catches breath.’ The line captures that feeling of the best of times in a club, where everything slips away in terms of time and you feel like you’ve reached a place beyond the outside world, a place of your own that is somehow communal with those around you,” says the producer and DJ, real name Joseph Seaton. “The mix was meant to be an honest reflection of those moments for me as a DJ. The zones that somehow encapsulate the physical and mental harmony you feel in that place. This is a mix for that zone.”
A new Call Super single, which closes out the mix, titled ‘Mothertime’ is out now, which opens with airy textures before rifling into screwface bass and glitchy textures.

Frost Children share new single 'FALLING' from forthcoming album 'SISTER'
St Louis-born sibling duo Frost Children have unveiled the second single from their forthcoming album 'SISTER', set to land on True Panther/Dirty Hit on September 12.
'FALLING' sees the pair dig through the emotionally raw themes heard on previous single 'CONTROL', combining dithering pop hooks with emo-tinged electronica.
“‘Falling’ is the double feeling of euphoric and melancholic, both of which seem to be glued together," Frost Children say. "The best part of dance is that you get to let go and leave whatever reality is in the shadows for a moment, and this song especially had that intention to feel like the euphoria was also an escape of something so real and so sad as your life falling apart in front of you, and wanting someone or something else to take that burden away and take you over.”
