New label Weapons launches with ‘Frequency Response’
“The history of weapons in dance music runs deep through its many veins”
New electronic label Weapons celebrates its inception with an initial release from Mumbai Science called ‘Frequency Response’.
The label will donate five per cent of all profits to war victims and is a platform for tracks designed for the dancefloor, rather than commercial success, to stay true to the roots of electronic music.
According to a statement from the label: “The history of weapons in dance music runs deep through its many veins. From soundsystem culture’s ‘dubplates’ to house music’s ‘whitelabels’, ‘secret weapons’ have been used by DJs in their sets for years.
“For the newly launched Weapons, the mantra is in the name. Harking back to the days where the best dance tracks were made for the club, not the radio, Weapons promises to supply pure dance floor tracks, for DJs and dancers alike”.
Established DJs such as, Skream, Jonas Rathsman and Carl Cox have already shown their support for the label and Annie Mac and B.Traits played ‘Frequency Response’ on their BBC Radio 1 shows on Friday night.
