New independent nightclub to open in Cardiff next month

Carpe Noctem will transform previous cabaret venue Minsky’s Showbar

A new nightclub named Carpe Noctem will be opening in Cardiff next month.

Nightclubs in Wales have been closed since Boxing Day, but are allowed to reopen as of tomorrow.

The new 300-capacity independent electronic music venue has a license to open until 4:AM.

It will be hosted inside the building that housed Minksy’s Showbar, which closed down at the start of the pandemic in March 2020 after being open for more than 25 years.

In a statement on its Instagram the club said: “Carpe Noctem means Seize the Night which is extremely fitting for the hospitality sector as we all emerge from lockdown to welcome back all the frustrated clubbers and ravers that the pandemic forgot.

“The club itself has undergone some major renovations since closing in 2020, with large bespoke murals and artwork from local artists adorning the walls, an upgraded sound system and huge cocktail bar spanning over 12 metres.

“Our aim as a nightclub is to take the people back to the origins and essence of dance music influenced by where it has come from and where it is going in the future.
