New documentary tells the history of iconic NYC record shop Other Music
The piece will dive into 20 years of the seminal establishment
A new documentary on the historic and movement-leading New York City record shop Other Music is currently in the works.
OTHER MUSIC: The Story Of An Iconic Independent Record Store, which is currently being produced and seeking funding through Kickstarter, will follow Other Music's 20 years of business.
The retailer gained fame and respect as a master curator and incubator for musical talent in the late 90s, helping to establish the city's vinyl culture and nurturing early careers of some of the most influential rock bands.
Other Music became a hub for performances and education, boasting a reputation as one of New York's sharpest selectors. For many artists, it was an honor to be stocked on the record shop's shelves. In return, Other Music's members always held true to stay deeply knowledgable and well-read in everything they carried.
The documentary plans to feature stunning VHS footage from Other Music's archives and interviews from artists involved in its rise to fame.
