Club night supporting new Black DJs and artists launches in London, Happy Survival
The first event takes place at The Glove That Fits on April 20
A brand new club night is set to launch this month in London giving space to Black DJs, producers, and artists across all genres, Happy Survival.
Founded by DJ, producer, and writer, Tope Olufemi - AKA worko - Happy Survival aims to give a platform to Black artists and support their craft.
“For Black artists and DJs without label support or huge co-signs, it can be difficult to carve out a space for yourself and find a way to commit to your practice,” explains Tope.

“I hope that Happy Survival can somewhat contribute to the flattening of the playing field, creating a platform for Black artists to find their feet, experiment and find an audience.”
The first event is set to take place on April 20 at East London’s The Glove That Fits, showcasing four Black DJs from a plethora of genres. worko takes the reins with a set dedicated to the bassier sonics from dubstep to jungle and hip hop.

Elsewhere on the night, fat-lip, sharari, and AUM will deliver everything from broken beat, gqom, house, footwork, dancehall, and UK funky across the evening.
“Ultimately, we want the people coming to our nights to be ready to bank on maybe hearing something they haven't before, from someone they haven't before - we'd love for people to come and find out what we're about,” they explained.
Happy Survival’s debut event will take place from 7:PM until 12:AM on April 20 at The Glove That Fits. Tickets start at £7.50 - grab yours here, and find out more about Happy Survival here.
