Music Hackspace locks in EVOL and Joanne Armitage for Somerset House Studios
Parties, workshops, artist talks and more feature in the new programming
Music Hackspace has revealed details of the spring and summer programming for its Somerset House Studios residency.
A host of workshops, meetups, artists talks and performances feature among the billing, including Scramble Everything on June 9, a party co-curated with Ewa Justka, who will play a live set with EVOL. Also performing live on the night will be Shelley Parker and Dale Cornish, before EVOL close proceedings with a DJ set backed by lasers from visual artists Jayson Haebich.
There’s a number of workshops with a focus on open source technologies: Joanne Armitage will be helming three SuperCollider sessions; Befaco and Casper Electronics will be instructing on synth buildings; and New York’s Johann Diedrick will make the trip over armed with a new DIY sampler, and will also deliver an artist talk.
Monthly TidalCycles meetups will be running. In May and July, these will be exclusively for women and non binary people. Check our feature on the coders pushing electronic music into the future here. May and June DIY hardware meetups, hosted by Tom Richards, will be open to all, and people can bring existing projects or attend to get started on making their own hardware.
