MTV resurrects the 'Classics' with a 90s-themed channel

Classic shows and the best of 'MTV Unplugged' are back

Though we've yet to receive the full "music-only" programming many reminisce about when thinking of MTV, the television channel has announced plans to rebrand VH1 Classic as MTV Classic.

Launching on August 1, MTV Classic will revisit its most beloved programs of the 90s and early 2000s including Beavis & Butt-head, Aeon Flux, Real World and Laguna Beach. In addition, the channel will bring back the "best of" MTV Unplugged, specifically highlighting the return of episodes with Bob Dylan, Nirvana and Erykah Badu.

August 1, 2016 marks the 35 year anniversary of the launch of MTV, a special homage to the channel's prolific history. Further, the first hour of MTV Classic will replicate the debut programming of MTV back in 1981.
