Ms. Lauryn Hill announces ‘Miseducation’ 25th anniversary tour alongside Fugees

The tour is scheduled to run across 13 dates in the US

Ms. Lauryn Hill is celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ with a 13-date North American tour, kicking off next month.

Ms. Hill is set to link up with her former hip-hop group Fugees for the entire run of shows in the US and Canada, while a handful of Australia dates will see her take the stage alongside Jamaican singer Koffee.

The tour kicks off on September 8 with a show at Minneapolis’ Mystic Lake, before hitting New York, Washington, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more dates across the US and Canada, concluding on November 9 in Seattle, Washington.

Ms. Hill will perform 1998’s ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ in its entirety on each date of the tour in celebration of its 25th anniversary, a record that landed multiple awards upon release.

“‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator,” Ms. Hill said.

“I wrote love songs and protest songs – (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.”

The US rapper will also reunite with the Fugees following a recent surprise reunion at Philadelphia Music Festival. The trio were due to head out on a reunion tour in 2022, but it was cancelled after information came out about Pras Michel’s ongoing legal battle.

In April, Michel made the unusual decision to testify at his own federal conspiracy trial where he told the court that he has met and shared information with the FBI voluntarily.

Michel is accused of accepting payments to further the interests of China and assist Malaysian billionaire Jho Low in gaining political connections in the US and attempt to influence the Obama and Trump administrations. He was found guilty later that month.
