Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie
The Stockholm-based pair dig deep with this early-hours roller
Ten years separate Swedish duo Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie, but with the compatibility they display in their work together they could well be twins.
Mr. Tophat is the son of two artists who fed the flames of his interest in music from a young age, while Art Alfie became involved in the scene after he started attending parties in Stockholm at the age of 20 that proved to be seminal experiences.
They had known each other for a number of years before they started making together, but when they eventually got going there was no stopping them. Since founding the Karlovak label together in 2012 they have clocked up an impressive nine releases of killer disco-inspired house tracks.
Number ten is now due for release on December 7, and it will be the last in the series. After building the label into prominence exclusively through their own work, they will now start releasing the work of other artists.
The duo are seeing things out in style, with the final 12" featuring the nine minute deep cut 'Bengan'. Laden with hi-hats and spaced-out vocal samples, it's one that will daze dance floors when drawn for in the early hours. Listen below.
