Mos Def is opening a hip hop art gallery in New York
The work of Jonathan Mannion will be the first show
Hip hop legend Mos Def, real name Yasiin Bey, will be opening an art gallery in the South Bronx, New York next month called The Compound.
He will be working in collaboration with advertising executive Free Richardson who will run the day-to-day operations while Bey brings in the talent.
The gallery will be a fusion of hip hop and art, featuring both visual and performance arts, as well as a film programme.
The first show will arrive in August, showcasing the work of Jonathan Mannion, who has previously photographed Jay Z and Busta Rhymes.
