More passengers than ever flew to Ibiza in August
Arrivals hit a record high during the White Isle's busiest month
The number of people visiting Ibiza hit a record high this August, according to Diario de Ibiza.
August is always the busiest month on the White Isle and this year 1,409,848 passed through the airport. British arrivals increased by 6.7 per cent from last year, totalling at 400,722. This was the first time Brit arrivals topped the 400,000 mark.
Visitors from mainland Spain made up the bulk of arrivals at 419,549, but this was less than last year, falling by 2.6 per cent.
Italians visited the third most in August (217,822), followed by Germans (116,145), Dutch (86,482) and French (65,074).
Man In San An reports that Dutch visitors increased by 22.3 per cent from January to August this year, up by 70,000 compared to 2016.
Another figure included in the report was that hotel occupants in August dropped by six per cent to 86.87 per cent. This may be due to people using Airbnb, which, in turn, is contributing to an accommodation crisis.
