Moderna shares second single, 'Filter Me', from debut album 'The Future Is Among Us'

Album opener 'DIE4U' is already available: an homage to Prince's 'I Would Die 4 U'

Moderna has shared second single 'Filter Me' from her forthcoming debut album set for release on May 10, 'The Future Is Among Us', taken from her imprint Brave New Records.

The record as a body of work has been conceived across seven years between Berlin and Mexico City, with its sonic tapestry woven from diverse influences yet pulled together in a cohesive manner.

Second single 'Filter Me' models as a sultry, driving affair. With its warped vocal focus playing with tension and seduction plus a pummelling snare drum, it embodies an alternative offering set to be found on the full album, contrasting to lead track 'DIE4U'.

Released at the end of last month, it pays homage to Prince's 'I Would Die For You'. The musician reimagines the timeless sentiment, entirely self-written and produced, with layered vocals, a driving bassline and pulsating electro beats. You can check the video out below:

"Berlin, with its diverse music scene, proved to be the perfect breeding ground for my sound," Moderna explains. "Here, I've found an incredibly supportive and thriving community. We're all pushing boundaries and creating exciting music on our own and together, artists like Local Suicide, Curses, Franz Scala, Jennifer Touch, Skelesys, Tom Peters, and so many more are all shaping the city's vibrant electro and darkwave indie scene. It's an inspiring environment to be a part of right now."

Tapping into influences particularly from the LGBTQ+ community, the album embraces dancefloor-focused anthems but also dives into deeper emotional territory. Tracks such as 'Lost at Heart' - a collaboration with post-punk artist Skelesys - weaves and shifts between vibrant soundscapes but also darkwave, and maintains a raw emotional vulnerability throughout.
