Mikey Lion & Bengal

A piece off of 'The Big Cats' EP

Ahead of the Desert Hearts 3-year anniversary festival happening next month, Mikey Lion teamed up with crew-outsider Bengal to release a 'The Big Cats' EP. Mixmag has the exclusive on the first release called 'Like That' and, yes Mikey, we like it.

According to Mikey Lion, this collab with Bengal is long overdue, "I first discovered Bengal back in 2011 when he was producing tracks for Steve Lawler's label VIVa MUSiC under the alias BNZO. When I found out he was a fellow San Diego native, I was blown away and knew we had to get in the studio together."

'Like That' is very much a tech-y Desert Hearts-style release but with a little added house-something from Bengal. And its release falls just in time for the next big event, "Almost 5 years later but just in time for our Desert Hearts 3 Year Anniversary Festival, we're proud to give you our first release together appropriately titled The Big Cats EP."

Desert Hearts is now a staple in the West Coast underground scene, and in the last year the crew has been marking their territory with City Hearts parties all over North America. Coming up in November is the Fall three-year anniversary festival. While Desert Hearts Fall will take place yet again at the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, they've gone all out by extending the party from 72 non-stop hours, to 100 hours of ongoing house and techno.

Prepare for little rest and sets from Claude VonStroke, J.Phlip, Kate Simko, Mikey Lion, Deep Jesus, Lee Reynolds, Porkchop, Marbs and more. Grab the last of the tickets left for the 3000-person capacity festival, happening on November 5 - 9. More info here.
