The Lab NYC is BULLDOG Gin and Mixmag's weekly live stream and post-work unwind, where we showcase the finest DJs direct from our Brooklyn office. This Thursday, December 19, Detroit originator, Mike Huckaby brings out his deep house and techno for an intimate set.

A long-time sound designer and educator, Mike Huckaby has been around the block. Dating back to his time with Detroit’s former Record Time store, he has been developing a vast knowledge of music for decades. Over the years, he has been busy producing music for his labels, Deep Transportation and S Y N T H, as well as remixes for artists such as Deepchord, Juan Atkins, Loco Dice, Vladislav Delay and more.

Beyond his own accomplishments, he has been helping to develop the next generation of electronic music producers. He taught music production classes using Native Instruments and Ableton software at YouthVille, a former youth centre founded by the Detroit Youth Foundation. He also was a guest teacher at Berlin’s Campus Efeuweg community school for their MASCHINE beat-making workshops. To this day, he continues to innovate the industry through his own projects and those of others.
